Are you looking for the simple things first?

Damp – just hearing the word brings a tear to the eye.

And rightly so, damp can cause huge problems in your property depending on the type and location of the issue.

This means that when a tenant reports ‘damp’ we tend to go into panic mode and imagine the worst-case scenario.

However, 90% of these reports are nothing serious and most of the time, there is a relatively quick fix.

In this week’s video, Chris shows us a prime example of when a solution can be easily found and fixed by thinking slightly out of the box and having eyes everywhere 👀

Our Top Tips when looking for the source of damp are:

💧If it’s on the external wall, look at the wall externally!! – it seems like common sense, but so many people miss this step.

💧If there is black mould it is likely to be condensation, so make sure the heating and ventilation in the room is working optimally.

💧Get a damp meter; especially on the ground floor, this will be able to indicate to you quickly if this is a damp issue or not.

💧Don’t panic- get your eyes everywhere and think it all the way through.
